[FCNYC] Offer: Canon Pixma MP 830 printer - needs repair (west sixties)

Offer:

I have a beloved Canon Pixma MP 830 multifunction printer that I bought
in November, 2007. It functioned very well, and printed gorgeous photos.
It did printing, fax, scan, and copy, but now has some problems. I hate
to just throw it out.

Here is a description of the printer:

At present, it won't print (see below for detailed error message), and
it apparently won't even send faxes or do scans. It also has had some
paper jams recently both in the automatic document feeder and the
regular paper path, and may need to be cleaned.

It might be useful if:

1) you are willing to buy a new print head for about $60-$75 (I can't
guarantee that the new print head will solve the problem)

2) You know how to clean the printer.

3) You have the same printer and might want to use this for parts.

The printer does have some partly used ink cartridges, including some
that are nearly new.

I get a message that "the type of print head is incorrect. Install the
correct print head." A new print head would cost about $60-$75, and is
very easy to install. (I found a message saying I should clean the print
head with alcohol, but I already did that and it didn't help.)

I chose to buy a new printer for $174 (the HP Photosmart Premium Fax)
since we are using this for a nonprofit office, and couldn't wait even a
few days to get this one fixed.

If you are interested, please write back with your phone number and when
you could come to pick it up.

Harriet
