You put a spot bulb in it (or what ever you want that is ok with the socket) and it directs light up onto the wall, behind a screen, or plant so on.

Just don't want to toss a perfectly working item.

Please keep this simple and easy as I've found it often takes days to give away an item with much time wasted.
