I have an OLDER iPod remote that is meant to be a go-between from the iPod to your headphones so you can control your iPod without taking it out of your bag, etc. It has a clip so you can attach it to your bag, your collar, etc. I used to love this, but the iPod that it was compatible with was stolen years ago and I did not realize I still had this accessory.
I cannot tell you exactly which models are compatible, but take a look at your device - it needs to be the kind with the little "dock connector" hole next to your headphone jack. My "Classic" iPod from 2008 no longer has this. The remote cord end has to plug into the headphone jack AND this other hole to work - This is the best photo I found - look at the white iPod:

I have the box + instructions + a new set of black earbud covers - but not the white earphones that originally came with it. So this is just the remote part.
